Principal Investigator
Professor Laura Mickes
I am a Professor in the School of Psychological Science at the University of Bristol.
My research mainly involves the theoretical understanding and advancement of human memory (e.g., signal detection and dual-process theories of recognition memory), and applied aspects of human memory. One line of such research is aimed at investigating and improving eyewitness identifications.
I am also the Principal Investigator of pyWitness.
pyWitness is software written in python that allows users to manipulate, process, model, fit eyewitness recognition memory data, perform simulations, and conduct power analyses. It embraces open, good science practices and is designed to elevate the practice of a community of researchers.
And I am the Psychonomic Society‘s Digital Content Editor.
I am committed to science communication, and therefore I’m delighted to serve as the Digital Content Editor for the Psychonomic Society. I produce and host the Society’s podcast, All Things Cognition. In most episodes, I interview researcher(s) about their latest research published in one of the Society’s journals.
